MRAG has had extensive involvement in resource management projects in developing countries. These projects place substantial emphasis on integrating conservation and natural resource management with the overall national, regional, and local economic growth strategies of recipient countries. We frequently build into our projects conferences, seminars and workshops and other less traditional means of facilitating collaboration and sharing of information on sustainable natural resources management. Our staff includes consultants who are skilled at working with local communities. There is considerable emphasis on the uptake and impact of the products of research projects within the UK Department for International Development's (DFID) Fisheries Management Science Programme. This has strengthened our relationships with in-country institutions and enhanced the successful uptake of the products of our research, particularly in developing countries. MRAG has also run a number of technical training workshops in fisheries stock assessment and management, both as integral parts of larger projects, and as stand-alone training programs.
